MARIA FAMILY
A platform dedicated to contributing to the development of women in various aspects and areas of life.
Who we are
Loading...
We are a platform that seeks to contribute to the development of women in various aspects and areas. The Maria Family project was born in 2021 with the purpose of helping women in situations of risk and, through partnerships with the Public Sector and the Private Sector, brings new perspectives on life for women who need support.
We believe in a more just, more egalitarian society with less prejudice. The Maria Family cares and believes that, even if they often don't know it themselves, women in situations of risk or submission have the chance to empower themselves through knowledge, support, and the exchange of experiences.
What we do - our purpose
Psychological Support
Connection with qualified professionals to offer psychological care.
Support Network
Building a support community where women can share experiences and find strength to overcome challenges.
Information and Resources
Education about rights, laws and forms of protection, as well as the promotion of courses so that they have the opportunity and option to choose new directions for their lives.
Strategic Partnerships
Working with companies and the government to create accessible solutions, at a viable cost, ensuring that support reaches more women, including with job counters and daycare centers, to provide even more comprehensive support.
Personal Development
Psychological Assistance
In addition to psychological assistance to restructure women in vulnerable situations - an important first step so that they can often rebuild themselves as women and, in some cases, as human beings - Maria Family believes that an important pillar for a new life is professional training.
Partnerships and Courses
Seeking partnerships with renowned entities, Maria Family will provide courses of various natures aimed at making women aware of their skills, abilities and potentials. This includes providing mentoring so that women can identify their skills, interests and values, with the goal of finding a career or field of activity that is suitable and satisfactory.
Cost to the State and Private Initiative
1
Rental Assistance
The Government of the State of São Paulo, for example, has established
a monthly rental assistance of R$ 500.00 for women victims of violence. There are records of similar measures in Fortaleza (CE) and Teresópolis (RJ). The Union also has a law in this sense since 2023.
2
Indirect Costs
In addition to this direct cost, there are numerous other indirect costs, such as the entire police and judicial apparatus necessary for the protection of women and the granting of protective measures, costs with medical and psychological care, hospitalization and medication.
3
Business Impact
From a business perspective, there is a decrease in the productivity of women and their absences (often not justified, because most of them are ashamed to express what they suffer, especially in their workplace).

Report
There are several legal channels to report domestic violence in Brazil. Here are some options:
  • Call 180: It is a public service hotline that receives reports of violations against women and forwards the cases to the competent authorities. The service is free, anonymous, and available 24 hours a day, including weekends and holidays¹.
  • Call 100: It is a service that handles reports of human rights violations, including domestic violence. The service is also free and anonymous¹.
  • Specialized Police Stations for Women's Assistance (DEAMs): These are specialized police stations that handle cases of domestic and sexual violence against women.
  • Women's Reference Center: Offers psychological support, social assistance, and legal guidance for women victims of violence.
  • Public Defender's Offices: Offer free legal assistance to women victims of violence who cannot afford a private lawyer.
  • Brazilian Women's House: It is an integrated space that offers specialized services for women in situations of violence.
It is important to remember that the report can be made anonymously and free of charge, and that there are many resources available to help women victims of domestic violence.
